چکیده

This study aims to evaluate the change in flood inundation Chitose River basin (CRB), a tributary of Ishikari River, considering extreme rainfall impacts and topographic vulnerability. The changing were assessed using large-ensemble dataset with high resolution 5 km (d4PDF) as input data for rainfall–runoff–inundation (RRI) model. Additionally, prediction time differences between peak discharge water levels at confluence point intersecting improved compared previous study. Results indicate that due climatic changes, river floods are expected increase by 21–24% (IRB), while is be severe higher CRB, increases 24.5, 46.5, 13.8% area, volume, depth, respectively. Flood likely occur CRB downstream area frequency 90–100%. duration 5–10 h here. Moreover, short difference (0–10 h) predicted significantly CRB. provides useful information policymakers mitigate damage vulnerable areas.

Applications of Satellite-Based Rainfall Estimates in Flood Inundation Modeling - A Case Study in Mundeni Aru River Basin, Sri Lanka

The performance of Satellite Rainfall Estimate (SRE) products applied to flood inundation modelling was tested for the Mundeni Aru River Basin in eastern Sri Lanka. Three SREs (PERSIANN, TRMM, and GSMaP) were tested, with the Rainfall-Runoff-Inundation (RRI) model used as the flood inundation model. All the SREs were found to be suitable for applying to the RRI model. The simulations created by...

Risk analysis and vulnerability assessment in flood protection and river basin management

The water-related disasters are considerably increasing worldwide in the last years. While certain trends are global (like climate change), some actions to contrast these problems have to be taken locally. In any case, the land characteristics should be known and analyzed in order to contrast the hazards and avoid their transformations into damages or disasters when exceptional events occur. Th...

Modeling Flood Inundation Induced by River Flow and Storm Surges over a River Basin

Low-lying coastal regions and their populations are at risk during storm surge events and high freshwater discharges from upriver. An integrated storm surge and flood inundation modeling system was used to simulate storm surge and inundation in the Tsengwen River basin and the adjacent coastal area in southern Taiwan. A three-dimensional hydrodynamic model with an unstructured grid was used, wh...

Change of extreme rainfall indexes at Ebro River Basin

Extreme rainfall events are a serious concern for regional hydrology and agriculture in the Ebro River Basin. Repeated anomalous rainfall in recent decades has had a devastating impact on this region, both socially and economically. Some studies developed in Italy and USA have shown that there is a change in seasonal patterns and an increasing frequency of extreme rainfall events, whereas other...

Numerical Simulations of Flood and Inundation in Jobaru River Basin Using Laser Profiler Data

Laser Profiler (LP) data from aerial laser surveys have been increasingly used as topographical inputs to numerical simulations of flooding and inundation in river basins. LP data has great potential for reproducing topography, but its effective usage has not yet been fully established. In this study, flooding and inundation are simulated numerically using LP data for the Jobaru River basin of ...
